Feminists, Please Awake From Your Slumber.

April 9, 2009

Theoretically, feminists should be outraged by the mistreatment of women and blatant misogyny displayed by pop culture, particularly rap music like the latest jam from Eminem.

Rapper Eminem just released a new song in which he graphically discusses having sex with a variety of women including Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

In the video published at YouTube moments ago, a scantily clad Palin look alike is sitting on a desk while a slighty-dressed Eminem makes sexual gyrations at her side.

If this had been a video/song about Michelle Obama or Nancy Pelosi — imagine the outrage!

Further still in the questionable treatment of conservative women

After the fanfare surrounding first lady Michelle Obama‘s new wax figure at Madame Tussauds in downtown Washington Tuesday, we noticed something peculiar: No Republican first ladies have had the honor of being immortalized in wax at the museum.

Besides Mrs. Obama, the Tussauds inventory here includes a figure of Hillary Rodham Clinton and, not one, but two gloved and ladylike Jackie Kennedys.

But nary a Nancy Reagan, Betty Ford or Barbara or Laura Bush.

“There have not been enough guest requests” for, say, a Mrs. Reagan or Mrs. Ford, museum marketing director Rosemary Del Prado said Tuesday. The museum solicits feedback via its Web site and a gift-shop kiosk and asks visitors to nominate people to be included for exhibit, she explained.

You heard ‘em, folks.  Start calling and sending in your requests for Laura Bush, Nancy Reagan, Betty Ford and Barbara Bush wax figures.

You can reach Madame Tussauds in Washington:

1025 F St NW

In their defense…Madame Tussauds has set up a survey to let you pick the FIRST GOP First Lady Wax Figure.

Support Marcus Luttrell

April 9, 2009

As many of my readers know, Governor Rick Perry addressed the 2009 Young Conservatives of Texas Convention this past weekend in Austin, TX.  Governor Perry also brought along a very special guest to our convention, former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell.

Luttrell is the only survivor from a battle that took place in Afghanistan in 2005 as he fought for our freedom.

He also presented the Young Conservatives of Texas with a signed copy of his book, The Lone Survivor, which details his experience in Afghanistan.

So you can only imagine how much it broke my heart to read this story:

All it took was the gunshot fired outside his Walker County home to trigger training ingrained in former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor of a dramatic battle in Afghanistan in 2005.

He did a sweep through the house. Checked on his mother. And bolted out the door, where he found dead his beloved Labrador retriever, Dasy, a dog given to him to help him recover from his own wounds and the loss of his fellow Navy comrades.

“I could tell she tried to get away because there was a blood trail,” Luttrell recalled in a phone interview Wednesday. “When I saw she was dead, the only thing that popped into my head was, ‘I’ve got to take these guys out.’ ”

Shrouded in darkness, Luttrell, who’d just been released from the hospital after another round of surgery, crawled under a fence, skirted a ditch and sneaked up on four strangers in a sedan who apparently killed the dog on a whim. Luttrell said they were oblivious as he raised a 9 mm pistol from about 25 yards away and had one of them dead to rights.

But as the car pulled away, he didn’t fire.

It is an outrage to read about this, especially considering everything Luttrell has done for our country.

The nighttime killing of a such a special dog played right into Luttrell’s deep wounds.

The 4-year-old yellow Lab was given to him upon his return from the war to help him heal. He named it Dasy as an acronym for his SEAL team members lost in a mighty fight in which they were isolated and far outnumbered by Taliban fighters.

He wrote a book, The Lone Survivor, about the experience.

Luttrell said he still wrestles with what he went through. He doesn’t sleep at night, usually keeping his guard up until sunrise, just in case.

“I don’t talk about it much. I just don’t sleep at night,” he said. “I am in and out of the house all night, going, moving around.”

Those of you reading this, please send your well wishes to Marcus Luttrell and his family and please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

The men and women who fight for our freedom are dear to our country and dear to me and horrible stories like this are just heartbreaking.

On behalf of all of the Young Conservatives of Texas, Marcus, if you’re reading this, we stand behind you and we hope you know that we’re thinking of you and supporting you.

Concealed Carry on Campus Moves to House

April 9, 2009

CALL YOUR LEGISLATORS!!

From the Houston Chronicle:

A House committee today approved a controversial bill that would allow students and employees with a concealed handgun license at universities across the state to carry their pistols into a classroom.

The House Public Safety Committee voted 5-3 during an afternoon meeting to prohibit public universities across Texas from creating rules that would infringe on a license holders ability to carry a handgun on campus. The committee substitute version passed today would allow private institutions to opt-out of the proposal authored by state Rep. Joe Driver, R-Garland.

State Reps. Lon Burnam, D-Forth-Worth, Eddie Rodriguez, D-Austin, and Barbara Mallory Caraway, D-Dallas, voted against the bill, which now heads to the full House where 76 members have signed on in support — just enough needed to pass. In the Senate, 13 members have pledged support to an identical measure sponsored by State Sen. Jeff Wentworth, R-San Antonio.

“If it does make it to the Senate floor we also expect it to pass,” said Katie Kaprzack, a spokeswoman for the grassroots gun group Students for Concealed Carry on Campus. “We’re hearing that the Senate State Affairs (committee) may let the bill die. That’s going to be the biggest hurdle.”

Texas Director Daniel Crocker sent the following facebook message out earlier:

The committee agreed that adult students, faculty and staff who are 21 or older, who have passed extensive background checks, who have completed firearms training courses and who have been issued a concealed handgun license by the State of Texas should be able to protect themselves in campus settings just like they are legally able to do almost anywhere else in the state. The right to personal protection should not be denied to a licensee just because he or she studies, works or lives on a college or university campus.

HB 1893 next moves to House Calendars Committee to be set for debate on the House floor.

While we’ve cleared one hurdle, please don’t let up yet! Your personal represenative needs to hear from you, asking him to co-author HB 1893 if he has not yet done so and to vote yes on the bill. You can find your legislator at:

Also, keep in mind that we have our empty holster protest coming up in ten days– track down a holster so you can show your support of self defense.
