Even the Democratic Strategist Agrees…
October 23, 2008There’s a double standard in the media?! *gasp* Kirsten Powers writes:
And Biden is the foreign-policy gravitas on the Democratic ticket, so his comments are actually even more disconcerting.
The outakes of his Sunday remarks don’t begin to capture the magnitude of what he said. After warning the crowd that there would be some sort of international incident – Biden could think of four or five scenarios – he told the donors: “We’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”
What does that mean? Obama’s election would provoke an international incident because of his inexperience and even Obama’s biggest supporters won’t be reassured by his response?

All I know about this Kristen Powers is that she wrote a hit piece against Democrats for the ultra-conservative Texas Insider, and that she’s developed a career as a political personality on Fox News’s Hannity and Colmes and O’Reilly Factor. It doesn’t look like she’s done much “Democratic strategizing” in the last several cycles. Instead, she seems more like a poor excuse for a Democrat, who certainly comes in handy when you want to pitch your network as “fair and balanced”.
If this whining piece of so called commentary were written by a Republican, it would hardly be newsworthy, assuming that it is.
Okay, while we’re on the subject… This is why Palin’s misstatements are more newsworthy than Bidens. So, Biden has mispoken about President Roosevelt using a television. Although it’s kinda funny, it’s clearly a misstatement. People give him the benefit of the doubt because we’re confident that he knows quite a bit about Roosevelt’s legacy and how to use a television. He just got the timing off. And while it is funny that he miscounted the number of “words” (letters?) are in the word “jobs”, I think we’re all confident that he has rudimenatary spelling and arithmetic skills.
On the other hand, when Palin seems to get the job description of vice president wrong, that’s a bit more disturbing. When she demeans the patriotism of Americans who live in urban areas, which would include me, that calls for a firm and angry rejection. I might not be Joe the Plumber or Molly the Teacher, but do not doubt my love for this country. Do that, and I rightfully say “eff you”.
Long story short: Obama and Biden have acted nothing by “presidential” over the course of this campaign. McCain, however, has pawned off his maverick image and replaced it with a disrespectful, angry, base-massaging new approach. Which is unsurprisingly the same as the approach as President Bush. Hmm…
Finally, do you honestly trust the reins of government to Palin on day one?
