Cho Takes a Shot at Palin…Again
September 24, 2008I’m starting to think she’s just trying to rake in headlines in light of her lackluster career.
Anyway, I brought it to you first, last week, about the Obama supporters’ desire to “violently rape” Governor Sarah Palin, as was posted by the minions of Margaret Cho.
And of course in that post is the now infamous Cho rant about Ms. Palin. In light of the headlines, it appears Cho has decided to perpetuate lies the left wing is feeding the media through an obscene blog post on her myspace page. Cho said:
I am being accused of sexually objectifying Sarah Palin, and I did it because I think it is funny
But that’s, of course, not all:
She is an insult to feminism, a sickening example what a woman will do to other women in order to please men and further her own career. Women do shit like that to other women to keep them down – to make their achievement seem more extraordinary – to keep women out of their way, so they can enjoy all the power and the men themselves, and that stuff makes them worse than sexist men. It is worse to be a traitor than a perpetrator. That she made rape victims pay for their own forensic exams shows that she believes that women somehow deserved to be raped – that it is our fault, just like unplanned pregnancy, just like being victimized by men – or women like her.
The media doesn’t seem to want to report on the false claim that Governor Palin FORCED rape victims to pay for rape kits as Mayor of Wasilla. In fact, actual research, like journalists should do, will easily result in the following information:
But note further this passage on Wasilla’s crime investigation billing procedures from Confederate Yankee, who contacted the Wasilla City Clerk:
The Finance Department searched all financial records on our system for fiscal year 2000, 2001 and 2002. There are no records of billings to or collections from rape victims or their insurance companies in our system. The financial computer system goes back to the beginning of fiscal year 2000, and accounts receivable backup documentation goes back six (6) years per our records retention schedule.
A review of files and case reports within the Wasilla Police Department has found no record of sexual assault victims being billed for forensic exams. State law AS 18.68.040, which was effective August 12, 2000, would have prohibited any such billings after that date.As one can see, the more one looks into this matter the less evidence implicates Palin with these “incomprehensible” allegations.
Indeed, if anything stands out time and again, it’s the comments Police Chief Charlie Fannon, who said that the matter was a budgetary issue.
Finally, as the Yellin report at CNN indicates, it was the State of Alaska’s policy to shift the costs of criminal investigations to local governments, which in fact constitutes an unfunded mandate. The report notes, as well, that state funding for women’s victims services has gone up under the Palin administration.
Thus, all the hysterical attempts to smear Palin on this issue have gained no traction simply because there’s not a shred of credibility to the charges. As Confederate Yankee suggests, this was a “manufactured” scandal, much like those of the Barack Obama “astroturfing” smear-campaign revelations against Palin that are currently being investigated.
Of course no Cho post would be complete without a selection of comments from her “devoted followers”. Let’s hear from Wiccan “Little Miss Obsessive”
I don’t understand why she is the way she is. I wish she would just die and I don’t care if I get bad karma for saying that because she is an EVIL person. People who support her obviously have something wrong with them.
Well apparently if you don’t understand someone, you shouldn’t find out or try to understand like an ~open and sensitive~ leftist but rather just wish death upon them.
But “Deaf Feminist Punk” who you may remember from the last Cho post gave some “good” advice again:
people need to get over the sex joke. I’m a feminist, and some feminists need to lighten the fuck up. Please keep mocking Palin and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.
This is what is wrong with the feminist movement…it perpetuates sexism, gender segregation, over sexualization of issues and refuses to disqualify a candidate based on issues.
And “feminists” claim we’re sellouts to our gender or worse…TRAITORS to our gender because we are conservative. Just like Steinem said to Kay Bailey Hutchison, this commenter said about Palin:
I’ve been referring to Palin as a traitor to her gender for a long time, and have gotten funny looks for it.
There might be reasoning behind the “funny looks”…just sayin’
Who stole feminism?
UPDATE: ROSANNE INTERVIEWS CHO ABOUT (among other things) SEXISM, THE DISGUSTING LIBERAL BLOGS AND HILLARY CLINTON.
No apology for Palin.
Cho: For some reason, online, there is this permission that people give themselves where they can say these horrible things about other people and it’s just so nightmarish….

Ms. Cho should look in a mirror and then decide who is an insult to feminism.
If you watch the video and listen to what Margaret Cho says about people giving themselves permission to say horrible things about other people and think about this statement within the context of the interview you will see that she is making reference to people anonymously trash-talking the physical appearance of celebrities such as Jennifer Love Hewitt.
To try to compare this to Ms. Cho speaking out against Sarah Palin, when Cho justified her opinion by stating what at the time she believed to be the truth–that Wasilla’s former mayor was in office when women were made to pay for their own rape kits–is absurd.
And why make a point to even mention what Cho’s fans have said about Sarah Palin? Sure, these people may be writing not-so-nice things about the VP hopeful, but do you really want someone to point out all the nasty things Conservative Republicans have said about Obama that make them out to be bigotted racists? Margaret Cho is in the public eye and therefore her comments are expected to be scrutinized, but quoting anonymous online commenters comes across as not only amateur but also ties back into the misquoted statement from Cho in the first place.
Ms. Cho clearly states that she does not condone anonymously tearing people down online. So what’s to say she would support these statements made by her fans? And should I even comment on the use of quotations around the word “sound” when regarding a quote from someone whose username is “Deaf Feminist Punk.” Was that an intentional pun or something accidentally non-P.C.?
The JLove reference made the connection to politics by Roseanne, actually.
I bring up what Cho’s fans said because it’s important to know.
And lastly, I didn’t even notice that accidentally non-P.C. use of quotation marks. Didn’t mean to offend. I meant the use of the word sound as in solid, good, etc. But corrected as per your comment, thanks for pointing it out.
And thanks for the comment!
