McCain Takes the Lead, Media Takes Nap

August 20, 2008

All day long all CNN was saying was about how Barrack Obama was ahead by a point in the polls.  In fact, data from the 2000 election was being aired to show Al Gore in the lead instead of data from 2004….you know, the most recent Presidential election.

And the media snoozed on this fact as well:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – In a sharp turnaround, Republican John McCain has opened a 5-point lead on Democrat Barack Obama in the U.S. presidential race and is seen as a stronger manager of the economy, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41 percent, wiping out Obama’s solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll.

The reversal follows a month of attacks by McCain, who has questioned Obama’s experience, criticized his opposition to most new offshore oil drilling and mocked his overseas trip.

Wake up Obama worshipping media!!!

Noriega “News” Conference

August 20, 2008

Did ‘ya hear the one about the senatorial candidate who hosted a news conference without any news media?!

Well, this is not a joke.  Word on the street has the following information:

That’s what happened to Rick Noriega this morning in his hometown of Houston, which happens to be the largest city in Texas.

According to Doing My Part For The Left the unlikely Democratic nominee for Senate scheduled a press conference at a health care clinic in East Houston for 9:00 am this morning.

….When it was all said and done six people showed up. That includes Noriega campaign and clinic staffers and the Cornyn campaign tracker. Not one media outlet showed up.

When they realized what a disaster the event was turning out to be, their “open press” event was quickly “closed,” but only to the Cornyn campaign tracker.

Noriega’s campaign didn’t even have the chutzpah to toss Cornyn’s tracker themselves. They sent a clinic staffer to inform him of the change of plans.

Maybe they should have let him in. It would have gotten them closer to double digits in attendees and increased their “press” coverage by 100%.

Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Nothing…Literally

August 20, 2008

Tuition is skyrocketing, books cost too much, food prices are going up, gas prices are out of control and I spent way too much on my new designer handbag.  Lucky for me, American Solutions can bail me out of one crisis, and while it won’t buy me another designer handbag, it will score me a year’s worth of free gasoline!

All you have to do is enter a video contest here.

Videos will be judged on two qualities – substance and creativity.

This is your chance to demonstrate to Congress and the American people why a “Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less” approach is best for your wallet and your country.

Try to think outside-the-box. Here are a few examples:

  • Showcase your sense of humor or your musical talents.
  • Think about pop culture and current events.
  • Think about your favorite movie and how it would have changed with $4/gallon gasoline.

We do ask that you try to follow a few guidelines:

  • Keep your videos short and to-the-point. Videos should not exceed 2 minutes.
  • Keep your focus on the issue, not personal attacks.
