Call Congress Back!!

August 4, 2008

I signed the petition, have you? Over 5304 have signed and the number keeps growing.

We, the undersigned, believe that gas prices are too high. Speaker Pelosi has closed Congress for a five-week paid vacation, without taking any action to lower gas prices. We, the undersigned, have a simple demand: Call Congress Back, Madam Speaker!

Update: Eyeblast.tv posts a video of Rep. Marsha Blackburn on the floor of Congress today.

It’s a shame Speaker Pelosi is too scared to let the public know how her congress has failed by refusing to allow the C-SPAN cameras to cover this historic event.

UPDATE #2:

Miss “open and honest” congress, Speaker Pelosi, has closed the comment section on her blog.

Can’t take the heat?

Update #4:

Apparently Speaker Pelosi is too busy promoting her flopped book than to pass energy reform.

Hat tip to Michelle Malkin for her book tour schedule.  It would be fierce to see some conservatives show up and ask for Congress to be called back.

Obama and Paris Comparison

August 4, 2008

Newsbusters reveals the truth!

Obama has been compared to Paris Hilton before.

In fact, the comparison appeared in the Washington Post in February of 2005.

There’s nothing exotic or complicated about how phenoms are made in Washington, and, more to the point, how they are broken.

“Andy Warhol said we all get our 15 minutes of fame,” says Barack Obama. “I’ve already had an hour and a half. I mean, I’m so overexposed, I’m making Paris Hilton look like a recluse.”

As Paris Hilton would say…”that’s hot.”

Rock the House! I support the Guerilla Congress.

August 4, 2008

If you’re on facebook, please be sure to join the group that supports the GOP’s efforts to pass concise and effective energy legislation, despite the Democrats failure this summer.

What happened on the Hill today?  As always, the Politico keeps us informed:

“Madam Speaker, let my people vote!” said Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.), adding a biblical flourish as Monday’s action came to a close.

But the GOP lawmakers, many of them among the most conservative in the Republican Conference, clearly felt energized by their demand that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) call the House back into session in order to vote on offshore oil drilling. By the end of the day, Republicans were threatening to keep their uprising going throughout this week and possibly into next week, although the chances of that seem slim.

Let’s hope this House does get called back for a special session.  These gas prices are hurting Americans and need to be addressed.  Don’t forget this November that the GOP tried to pass BI-PARTISAN legislation to address the issue.

Drill Here.  Drill Now.  Pay Less.

Young Conservatives of Texas alumni Congressman Jeb Hensarling says it best:

“On Friday, Speaker Pelosi turned out the lights in the people’s House,” Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) told reporters. “Now we’re in the midst of the ‘Pelosi Shutdown.’ She’s shutting down the people’s House, and if we’re not careful, her energy policies will shut down the economic engine of America. Republicans are saying we will not allow that to happen.”

Two Things

August 4, 2008

My thoughts and prayers go out to the folks in Houston preparing for Tropical Storm Edouard’s landfall.

Also, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Prince of Darkness himself, Robert Novak, as he goes through recovery.

I was fortunate enough to meet Mr. Novak at the Americans for Prosperity Summit in Austin.
