Let’s Play a Game
July 1, 2008Today’s game is: things that are not a comprehensive plan. Our example is Rick Noriega, who is running against the fierce U.S. Senator John Cornyn.
Ready? The following statements are things that are NOT an energy plan:
“Voters want real solutions to our soaring gas prices and dependence on foreign oil, but Senator Cornyn is running on empty. Texans are demanding better,” said U.S. Senate candidate and Texas State Representative Rick Noriega…“I will put Texas families first with real solutions to address our state’s energy needs now and in the future.” (Noriega Press Release, 5/15/08 )
“Noriega is a long time supporter of a comprehensive solution to our country’s energy crisis that helps Texans and ends our dependence on foreign oil.” (Noriega Press Release, 5/29/08 )
“I will put Texas families first with real solutions to address our state’s energy needs now and in the future.” (Rick Noriega, Noriega Press Release, 5/29/08 )
“It’s time for a Senator who will put consumers first and fix the root causes of high gas prices so we have real solutions that bring real relief to Americans, now and for the future.” (Holly Shulman, “Cornyn is Running on Empty,” Rick Noriega for Texas Blog, 5/15/08
“We have got to have the leadership and the vision about how we move away and become more energy independent.” (Rick Noriega, KCRS Midland, 6/24/08
Also not an energy plan? Noriega’s “joke” that we should drill in Iraq. Well, since he doesn’t seem to have much of a shot at being a Senator perhaps he is prepping for his back-up gig as a stand-up comedian…but lacking in the joke department.
Senator Cornyn’s energy plan includes ending our dependence on foreign oil. In summation:
Senator Cornyn proposes exploring and all viable alternative sources including wind, solar, nuclear, coal, geothermal and more. in the short term, while those alternative sources are being perfected, it is vital to our nation’s security we explore here, and open up ANWR and the outer continental shelf for exploration and drilling. Senator Cornyn adamantly opposes Democrat proposals to tax, sue and regulate our way out of our energy dependence do nothing to that end.
