Ciro Rodriguez Gets Money From Moveon.org…

September 11, 2007

…I hope he moves right on out of office.

In case I need to remind you of his “sharp defense” of the Constitution:

And its transcript:

Rodriguez: You think it’s the Federal responsibility to provide for highways?
Morales: It’s interstate commerce [inaudible].
Rodriguez: The majority is federally funded.
Morales: That’s why. It’s interstate commerce.
Rodriguez: But that’s ok right? And health care isn’t?!
Morales: There’s a big difference between something that’s outlined in the Constitution and something that isn’t. Interstate Commerce is outlined in the Constitution.
Rodriguez: It is?
Morales: Mmhmm.
Rodriguez: It is?
Morales: Yeah.
Rodriguez: And interstate commerce–highways are part of that?
Morales: Yeah that’s why they’re called interstates.
Rodriguez: Ok.

It’s no secret that Congressman Ciro Rodriguez isn’t the best defended of liberty, justice, fiscal conservatism, or the Constitution, but just when I thought the guy couldn’t get any worse, I find out this from Quico Canseco’s Campaign HQ:

Ciro Rodriguez and the Democrats are counting on their liberal 527 henchmen to do their dirty work as they slander the good name of General Petraeus. Today, the Democrats got their wish in the form of a full-page New York Times advertisement paid for by the liberal fringe group MoveOn.org. In the ad, General Petraeus, a soldier who has dedicated his life to defending America, is being called a traitor.

The New York Times ad speaks for itself.

Will Ciro Rodriguez, who has benefited from over $163,000 in campaign cash from MoveOn.org, finally denounce the group’s despicable behavior? Don’t count on it. It seems that MoveOn.org is doing exactly what Ciro Rodriguez and Democrats want them to do.

  1. Laura,

Where on Canseco’s website is this? I can’t seem to find it. I wanted to link to it in a post I’m making but I don’t see it. Was it in an email? Obviously, I’m on the other side of the aisle from you, but I’d like to read Canseco’s message in its full context.

    Thanks,

  2. Vince, it was in an email Press Release from the Canseco Campaign. I think you can contact their office to learn more about it or get a copy of the release.
