Protestors Clash

The Young Conservatives of Texas at UTSA have been under fire lately for their apparently controversial stance on border security.

What exactly did YCT do that caused so much media attention?Question

They invited Chris Simcox, Founder of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps to speak at UTSA. The event was designed to allow Simcox to deliver a speech then take questions from the audience, however, the protestors at this event had other plans.

If Simcox talked about saving lives, the protestors heckled. If Simcox talked about holding employers of illegals accountable for causing such a poor quality of life, the protestors screamed “racist” at him.

I compiled a lot of footage and photos from the event and created this piece:

It’s worth a watch, especially when you see the signs, hear the chants, and check out the crowds. No matter the protests, YCT succeeded in drawing attention to the obvious need for border security reform in the United States, and that’s something liberals and conservatives can both agree with.

  1. there was more crap coming out of the protestors mouths than there was from the speaker??

  2. First of all, saying that border security needs to be heightened because of terrorism is misguided. The “terrorists” came in legally on student visas. Not one came in by trekking through the desert from Mexico. Secondly, what is it that these minutemen do? They leave their wives and children to stand around in the desert in the dead of night and call border security or the National Guard whenever they see people coming through. And with the recent escalation of drug cartel violence in border towns, let’s all hope the minutemen don’t start yelling at whomever they see coming, because I doubt heavily armed drug runners will think twice about shooting them. I’m not implying that the minutemen should carry weapons; that would be a catastrophe waiting to happen. Someone would end up shooting a compatriot or an unarmed immigrant. I’m simply asking if it’s worth risking one’s life to report people that, even if they are caught, are motivated enough to enter the U.S. another way, whether it be legal or illegal? And if you’re that keen on keeping illegal immigrants out, why not join the National Guard or law enforcement agency? At least that way you’re properly trained and armed, not to mention paid to do something you’re passionate about.
